On February 15, 1971, three Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs and two Ellis County Deputy Sheriffs were taken captive and transported to the Trinity River Levee to be executed by their captors. Three died, one was gravely wounded but survived and one escaped through a hail of gunfire to sound the alarm. What followed was the largest manhunt in the history of Dallas. The author was a young Dallas Police officer and remembers the search for the killers. He tells the story of the massacre, the manhunt and the capture of the killers in THE LEVEE.
