The thought of travelling afar and living in foreign countries and cultures carries for many people the promise of glamour and interesting experiences. Few consider the risks and responsibilities which must be faced. "I married Goethe" is the story of Jeanie Dix who quite literally and metaphorically fell out of the clouds to marry a young German who she followed - eight months pregnant - to Indonesia, thus taking her first step of a long journey which should take her to Japan, Canada, Sweden, Greece, and again and again to England and Germany.
