Brrr! It's wintertime in the Sierra Madre mountains and the snowbound Donner Party is starting to get hungry. However will they feed their rumbly tummies? I wonder! ... Wait, so this is a picture book about a brutal historical tragedy involving starvation, murder, and cannibalism? Yep! And everything, including the timeline of events and death toll, is totally historically accurate (whether you like it or not!) So is this appropriate for kids? It's probably okay for your kid, unless they're a total lame-o. The book was written for an adult audience, but nothing is kid inappropriate. It's super dark, but some kids like dark stories. And it's technically educational! Wow this art looks incredible! How did that happen? Eric Carle is a mysterious German man who speaks only in riddles. I spent over a year studying his interviews and books to create an authentic parody of the iconic style. All illustrations are handmade using tissue paper and collage, and I have the joint pain to prove it. That's pretty neat! And you're saying if I buy this book I'm supporting independent comedy and non-traditional topics in publication? Oh yeah, believe it or not there isn't really an industry niche for "historical cannibalism children's books." I'm a self-published author and local comedian. Fight the corporate monopoly on entertainment and all that. Amazing! I'm gonna buy a copy right now! Dope.
